Murray was appointed as Associate General Counsel in Shell’s Upstream International business on 1st January 2013.
After graduating with a degree in law from the University of Aberdeen, Murray entered into private practice in Scotland, with a primary focus on commercial litigation and corporate finance.
In 2000, Murray joined Shell’s upstream business in the UK, based in Aberdeen and supporting Shells interests in the UKCS. He then relocated to Port Harcourt, Nigeria where he headed the legal team supporting Shells upstream gas businesses in Nigeria. From here, Murray moved to Muscat, Oman where he was appointed Head of Legal in Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). Most recently, he was seconded as Managing Counsel in the North Caspian Operating Company (the Operator of the Kashagan project), based in Astana, Kazakhstan, before finally coming to the Hague to take up his current position.
