Wang Dongjin was born July 2, 1962 in Jiangsu Province, China. From 1978 to 1982 studied at the Chinese Petroleum University, specializing in the development of oil and gas fields.
In 1995, Mr Wang Dongjin completed his postgraduate studies in economics at the Chinese Petroleum University, holds a doctorate degree.
From 1982 to 1987 worked as an engineer at the Jiangsu field.
From 1987 to 1991 Wang Dongjin worked as a leading engineer in the oil management of Jiangsu.
From February 1991 to 1992 he worked as Deputy Chief Engineer of the Petroleum Department of Tukh.
From July 1992 to August 1997, Mr Wang Dongjin consistently held positions from Deputy Chief to Deputy General Director of the Oil Administration of Jiangsu.
From September 1997 to February 2001, Wang Dongjin served as president of GNPOC (the NSPS project in Sudan). For the contribution to this project was awarded a medal by the President of Sudan.
From March 2001 to January 2003 Mr Wang Dongjin worked as General Director of CNPC International in Kazakhstan and JSC CNPC-Aktobemunaigas. In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan, by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was awarded a jubilee medal.
From February 2003 to August 2008 worked as president of CNPC International and as an assistant to the president of CNPC.
From September 2008 to April 2011 worked as vice president of CNPC.
From May 2011 to June 2013, he served as Vice President of CNPC and Executive Director of the Board of Directors of “PetroChina Company Limited”.
From July 2013 to April 2014 worked as first vice-president of CNPC, executive director of the Board of Directors and president of "PetroChina Company Limited"
Since May 2014, Wang Dongjin has been working as the First Vice President of CNPC, Deputy Chairman, Executive Director of the Board of Directors and President of “PetroChina Company Limited”.
Mr Wang Dongjin was awarded the Order of Dostyk-II by the President of Kazakhstan
